The artists featured include: The London Police, D*face, Lister, Bast, Elph, Mute Id, Mysterious Al, Mjar, Pure Evil and many, many more. Each box is hand stamped, numbered and done up in a special Overspray packaging. The cards are casino quality and fully playable. Three Questions for:
Anthony Lewellen, Artist
By John Hospodka

Q: On your website you write: "Joy and sorrow more often than not are reluctant bedfellows, life in the big city is a sea of troubled laughter and the truth is it is always sink or swim. The things I draw and paint are like that." How would you make this sentiment Chi-Town specific? More here.

Feature Artist London Flaovorpill

Issue 121: snog-worthy flavour If your not familiar with Flavorpill :" Flavorpill filters cultural happenings and delivers its findings to subscribers via free, graphical emails. Beginning with a music-based events newsletter sent to a few hundred New Yorkers in October 2000, Flavorpill now distributes nine publications to more than 225,000 subscribers in more than four cities in the US and London".

A little side note: The image in question was created two years ago for a Valentine themed show here in Chicago. In a bit of artistic irony It was politley rejected and not included in the show. It now sits sad and depressed in a lonley corner of my studio.

Gapers Block Button
The local blog Gapers Block noted for their coverage of all things Chicago had a contest asking for submissions to redesign one of the buttons they are retiring. I have always been a sucker for contests and unable to pass up a chance to flex the skills so I put together a little something. A 1" something to be exact. I found out the other day that they decided to go with the image I created to the left as well as a design by another artist. I expect you will be able to buy them on the Gapers Block site pretty soon.

Miniature Show Opens on Friday, February 18 from 6-9 pm.
I have always believed that in life, it is the little things that count and I guess I am not the only one. In a show in which no piece exceeds 6 inches in any direction you can't help help but lean in to see what is going on. Featuring small work from Chicago area artists, my self included, you might just give a pocket sized masterpiece a new home. My thanks to Neil and Tim for putting together the show.

Print Exchange
I am happy to say that I started 2005 off by hand printing an edition of fifteen mono prints to be included in Print Zero Studios Print Exchange which will be shown at the Blue Door Gallery in Seattle. It felt good to use my press again the last thing I printed was a series of space monkey shirts in 2000. Now that my press is set up I am looking forward to making the jump from textiles (t-shirts) to one of my favorite things in the world — paper. A special thanks to Jeremy Cody and Brian Lane at Print Zero. If you want to see an image of the print click on the thumbnail to the left.
